States; The 9/11 Heroes Stamp Act of 2001 directs the Postal Service to transfer the net proceeds from the sale of these stamps to the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide assistance to the families of emergency relief personnel who died or were permanently disabled in the line of duty in the connection with the terrorists attacks of September 11, 2001. Each "Heroes" stamp is valid postage at the First-Class, first-ounce rate in effect at the time of purchase.

* WTC HEROES STAMP HISTORY:
Designed by Derry Noyes of Washington, DC, the Heroes of 2001 stamp image features a detail of the photograph by Thomas E. Franklin, the word Heroes and acronym USA in capital letters stacked in the upper right hand corner of the vertically formatted design and the year 2001 in the lower right hand corner. Running at a ninety degree angle along the upper left hand edge of the design are the words First-Class in capital letters. Adjacent to that is a plus sign (+) denoting that the price of the stamp is higher than the First-Class rate. The self adhesive, non denominated Heroes 2001 stamp is a semi-postal. The Heroes of 2001 stamp is the second semi-postal in U.S. history. The first was the Breast Cancer Research stamp.

Incredible memorabilia that so many visitors & collectors loved. So before these collectibles were discontinued, we obtained what we could from the companies that provided the WTC gift shops. We stored them for 10 years & decided that on the tenth memorial of the 9/11 WTC we would present them once again.
