Vintage Model Korean Traditional "Hanok" Illuminated Thatched-roof Country Farmer's House
The traditional Korean farmer's thatched-roof country house has completely disappeared from Korea except in special "Folk Village" locations, but Koreans lived in such a house for thousands of years.  This handmade model shows not only the house, but the farmer's fenced yard, including his "jigye" (A-frame carrier), the earthen pots for kimchi, his vegetable garden and other traditional elements of Korean farm life.  The house is illuminated, showing paper windows on the sleeping rooms and the open central wood floor or "maru."  The entire model is protected by a plastic dust cover, but if preferred the plastic cover can easily be removed (2 short screws) and the house displayed more clearly.  The entire model is mounted on a wooden base that measures 12 1/2 x 10 inches.  The height including dust cover is 7 inches.
The model was purchased in Korea in the 1970s at a time when Korea was still using 110 volts, and has been kept under the dust cover (and later, in storage) ever since.  Fortunately, we brought it back to the states, so there is no international postage involved.
