Sao Tome , an ex- Portuguese colony, joined the Olympic Family in Atlanta in 1996, as one of the smallest countries in that organization. The crane is sacred to Japanese, a good luck symbol which is purported to bring good fortune and longevity.  It is one of the most important pieces of Japanese iconography.

is made in highest-quality semi-
cloisonné
and it has TWO military clutch closures.  Excellent condition!!  Sao Tome had only
two athletes
competing in Tokyo, so these dramatic pins were a challenge for collectors to find.
