    Description

ORIGINAL - JAPANESE BRONZE CENSER (INCENSE BURNER) - MEIJI PERIOD (1868 -1912)
All hand tooled and embellished Turtles , Swans, Geese , Foliage adorn this handsome late 19th century Japanese censer (incense burner).
Heavy bronze tack head near the base of each leg. The condition used, uncleaned and very fine, consistent with a used bronze cencer (INCENSE BURNER) of 120 - 150 + years. The center tray at the base of the bowl where the incense would have been burned is not present making it unusable for its original intended purpose. At the base of the bowl is the  4 13/16" diameter hole that the burner tray would have been placed in. The center inside incense tray rim has 2 tiny hairline stress cracks near the edge.
