The shachihoko of Himeji castle, which is a world cultural heritage in Japan, has been metallized in miniature!
A shachihoko is a imaginary creature with a tiger head and a carp body. It is a Japanese traditional figure which is often found at the top of Japanese castle. It is believed that it has a power of putting out the fire. Therefore, it can be used as a charm for safety or ornamental purposes.
There are three types of shachihoko, so please choose one from them.
1. ''Meiji'' with the deepest scale sculpture
2. ''Showa'' with big and gorgeous fins
3. ''Heisei'' which has more power while following the shape of ''Showa''
Each shachihoko was named after some names of era in Japan.
Thanks to the support of Himeji city, we could
converted into 3D data after 3D scanning the real shachihokos which are shown in the Himeji castle. We completely reproduced even the missing fins and a little scratch.
We used our precision casting technology and made it by stainless steel.
For you information, Himeji castle was designated as national treasure in 1951, and it was designated as the first world heritage site in Japan in 1993. Usually, the shachihoko on the roof of the castle tower is a pair of male and female, but Himeji castle's both shachihokos are female and it is rare in Japan.
