    This extremely Rare Japanese Formal Haori Kimono 5-crest (mon) is from the most famous Shogun clan and also known as the 15th and the last shogun Yoshinobu Tokugawa October 28, 1837 - November 22,1913. He aimed to reform the aging shogunate of Japan and to restore the power to the Emperor candidate known as the end of Edo.
    The Tokugawa clan ruled Japan from c in which Japan enjoys 250-years of peace and order.
    This Haori kimono was given to me in 2000 from my Uncle in Japan. It was given to my other Uncle since He Held a high position with the royal court. I only Wish I would have the Pleasure of meeting before his Death.
    The garmet is all silk and all hand made. The hand sewing is of an excellent skill. This piece has been kept wrapped and stored in a cool and dark place. This Haori would have been worn for only the highest formal events of the highest occasion.
    This is a true collectors item and very rare to come across. Most likely a once in a life time occurrence. It is very rare to come across many antique items with the Tokugawa crest, and mostly clothing. The piece is in excellent condition and this has only been taken out, this the second time to photo graph. This is Japans greatest history that has been recorded in film, books and art.
    Japanese: 渋谷家 (Shibuya ke)
    The Shibuya clan were a samurai clan originally from Sagami province, branches of which became the Kyushu clans of Irikiin, Ketôin, Tôgô, Tsuruta, and Takajô. The main lineage became retainers to the Shimazu clan in 1569, and remained Shimazu vassals through the Edo period.
    The item is all black silk. The silk has been created where it has verticle stripes which when up close to, then it becomes noticeable. Holding the garment up to the lights, you will see that the material is see-through with the stripes are located. On the back of the jacket are the three family crests, one located in the center, the other two are located on the sleeves. The crest or what’s known as the MON are that of the Japanese water iris flower. There is another style of Haori that is even more traditional and has five crests with two additional crests located on the front of the jacket. The Haori is traditionally completed by being hand sewn completely. Haori are traditionally worn open and not tied over a kimono and sometimes with the Hakama kimono which are basically the pant style worn over the kimono commonly seen worn by the Japanese Samurai .
    This sale is only for the black jacket and does not include any additional piece . Condition is Used. Dry clean only. Use worn out as a jacket. Hang it for room decor, Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
