Canon AE Power Winder FN for Canon New F-1. Good to Very Good Condition!
I have a collection of 1980s-1990s Canon photography gear, all based on the FD Bayonet mount lens system, and I am letting go of some of the Canon New F-1 items I acquired.
This item is the 2 frames per second Power Winder with built-in 4 AA battery compartment, horizontal and vertical position shutter buttons, single frame and multi frame switch, and a frame counter with reset button. Also, there is a little compartment just inside the battery door to hold the two access covers that unthread from the camera body to accept the Power Winder.
A key reason to acquire this piece is that it adds Shutter Priority automation when you put the camera’s lens to the A setting on the aperture ring. In other words, set the film ISO on the camera and select the shutter speed, then the camera will adjust the aperture to match the light meter results.
I have tested this item, and it performs as it should. If you are planning on using the winder much, I recommend having a professional lubricate the moving parts to specifications so that you will get smoother function and longer life.
Since it has a built-in battery compartment, its condition is important. The spring contacts inside the compartment are clean. I can see no evidence of leakage or corrosion inside the compartment. The battery door shows some prior leakage or corrosion in the past, but it is clean and moves the current just fine.
Overall, a very nice piece unless you are wanting mint. But with mint, you’d be afraid to use it, and anyway, you would look like a poseur rather than a pro!
