    Description

    Offering an antique, circa 1900, ornate brass, small pot formerly used by the Chinese for ironing silks. The pot would be filled with hot sand and the smooth hot base run over the silk. They called it a dragon pot.
    This pot measures 6 1/2" in length and 3 1/2" in bowl width. The bowl rim is beautifully swayed and scalloped and the sides of the bowl have fire breathing dragons in low relief. Beneath the handle is a small brass leg to balance the iron.
    The handle of the bowl has a relief effect that features a vine with two old glass or stone beads, a turquoise and a red one, representing flowers.The turquoise one has a crack.
    The bottom of the pot has CHINA impressed into the brass.
    A beautiful piece which apart from two spots inside the bowl which may be original to the manufacture as the bowl does not appear to be used.
