MAKE A REASONABLE OFFER!-SELLING UNUSUAL AND RARE ITEMS ON EBAY FOR 18 YEARS-QUALITY, NOT QUANTITY! - A 7 X 10 inch book, or folio, tied with cord, all in Japanese, approx. 106 pages total. We finally located someone that was able to give us a partial translation. Apparently published in 1928. Describes rare artifacts, rituals, statues, buildings, and other structures connected with Rinnoji Temple in Nikko, with many photos. The book was, apparently, given to persons who donated to the renovation of this temple in 1928. The temple was dedicated to Shogun [Prince] Tokugawa, and was, apparently, originally constructed about 1590 AD. The folio describes artifacts and other items in the folio, as being national treasures of Japan. There is writing in English in a couple places, [see photos] possibly by the American architect who acquired the book in 1951. His name & date acquired is stamped small in one corner of front page. We recently sent photos to the director of Asian Art at Sotheby's in New York. Although the book does not meet the 00.00 [Five thousand dollar] minimum value to consign to auction at Sotheby's, the director described the book as "probably rare" and "beautiful". This book is most likely one-of-a-kind. Selling as is.
