  • Condition: Appears in very nice condition-no cracks, repairs or damage found. Paint decoration appears bright and undamaged. White porcelain glaze has dirty look in white areas, upper rim and foot rings feel rough to touch from glaze loss.

    Description

    Amazingly beautiful Japanese Arita or Imari porcelain Art Pottery bowl, 18th Century Japan, due to spur marks and lack of artist signature, probably made by Korean Potters during this period. Beautiful underglaze pale and cobalt blues of Pagoda/landscape scene in middle bottom and blue stripe base bands on outside bottom, hand painted enamel decoration overglaze, green, red, brown and blue rocks, foliage, floral blooms and bamboo leaves. Has pink and brown Phoenix birds and flying moths. Red ribbon panels with arabesque pattern on outside and inside of bowl. Bowl measures 270mm (10 5/8") across top rim, 95mm (4") tall and 145mm (5 3/4")across outer foot ring and 105mm (4") across inner foot ring. Bowl has not been authenticated, but needs professional authentication. Bowl shows superior Museum quality and craftsmanship, bowl has high pitch ring tone when tapped, like fine china. After extensive research, I am unable to find anything comparable.
